There are many artists who draw a series of poses taken by a model in the time span of 1 minute to 5 minutes . Such drawings which involve capturing models/objects by sketching a rough image of it are known as gestural drawings. Understanding or using gestural drawings becomes crucial initially but once you get the hang of it you can be really quick with it.
Today we practiced gestural drawings . it was a fun activity where the teacher picked up students and gave them different poses and the rest of the class had to sketch them .We are given a time limit for every sketch we drew which started from 8 minutes in the beginning to 1 minute at the end . We had to be really quick with our hand moments and that is where almost everyone faced difficulties because we tend to concentrate more on the minute details which consumes time. Gradually all of us got a bit better at it and started focusing more on the outlines than the details.
