Today’s class we started with discussing what is an experience and what are different types of experiences ? An experience is an event or occurrence which leaves an impression on someone. Types of experiences are conscious , subconscious , time based , emotional , virtue, memory , physical , positive and verbal experiences.
We also discussed the difference between experience and memories. Memory is an information that has been created to store the base of an experience , whereas an experience is physically remembered by your body. We are creating an experience . One might experience the same thing but the kind of experiences might differ from one person to another.
EXPERIENCE :- 1] How do we perceive it ? We perceive it through senses and memories. 2] How can we manipulate it ? By changing the parameters of that experience. 3] How can we modify it ? We can modify it with the help of sense of power that one has. 4] Why should we do anything at all ? We should do it to make it special and memorable.
We also learnt how sound plays an important part in creating experiences . A good and soothing music helps in connecting better with the audience. A video or a movie without sound becomes boring . It helps in adding emotions to the scene.
Later we watched a movie BORROWED TIME . It was basically story telling with the help of using time . It helped us understand and experience sound in a better way. We also learnt about FOLEY. Foley is a reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to films , videos and other media in post production. It was found by JACK FOLEY in the 1920’s .
After getting a brief of the above we started concentrating on our project again. We selected one narrative and showed the thumbnails and the storyboard to sir. After getting it approved we began with clicking pictures for the photographic narrative. We were told to click multiple pictures out of which sir would select a few of them for the final project . With these pictures we had to create a new narrative or modify it . We were given a few links like PEXEL VIDEOS and PRELINGER ARCHIVES FREE MOVIES , from where we had to pick any videos randomly and try and add the pictures selected into the video by editing it. We were instructed to add music and sound effects to the video also.
This was an interesting activity, we learnt how to edit a video and got a better understanding of various sounds , music and effects.
