Today’s class we started with learning about colors. Importance of colours , what are colours? , how are colours made? etc. Colour us a sensation. Colour is the element of art that is produced when light, striking an object is reflected back to the eye .The properties of colours are :- Hue, Intensity and Value.
1) Hue:- hue is the name given to the colour(red, yellow, blue..). 2) Intensity:- It refers to the vividness of the colour. 3) Value:- It refers to lightness or darkness of the hue
There are a few terms which one should know while learning colours. They are :- Tint ( adding white to a hue), Tone ( adding grey to a hue), shade ( adding black to a hue), warm colours (red, yellow, orange) and cold colours (blue, green, violet).
We also learnt about the colour wheel and the colour scheme. The colour wheel is an abstract organisation of colour hues around a circle , which shows a relationship between primary , secondary and tertiary colors . Colour scheme is a choice of colours used for a range of media to create style or appeal.
Types of colour schemes are:- monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic complementary and double complementary.
After learning about colors we were then assigned to make an abstract design of a landscape and pick the colours in it and play with them. This was an interesting activity to do, we explored different colours and it helped me make various shades, tints and tones of the hue. The use of these colours made the drawing more vibrant and appealing.

We also made a landscape using any one colour scheme . We could use complementary colour scheme, double complementary colour scheme, warm or cool colours .
