Today’s class we started with Greek civilisation. Greek Civilization :- 1] Philosophy , 2] Art of Sculpting , 3] Culture

We discussed about Socrates. Socrates was a classical Greek philosopher . He was the guy who laid down the foundation of Socratic philosophy. He is best recognized for inventing the teaching practice of pedagogy , where in the teacher questions a student in a manner that draws out the correct response. Greeks adopted certain practices of Buddhism. 80% of the worlds shipping happens in Greece.

GREECE : – 1] It is situated towards the east of Italy [ Mediterranean Sea] , 2] Greece was a collection of city states , 3] Singular cultural identity , 4] Rhetoric was developed by the Greece , 5] Scholar in the field of rhetoric was Apollonius of Rhodes.

ATHENS :- Athens was a democracy and the head of Ancient Greek Civilization. It is a capital of Greece. Athens was named after the Greek goddess Athena . She was the goddess of wisdom, civilization and war. It is a global city and one of the biggest economic centers in Southeastern Europe. Athens taught music, natural science , medical, astrology, arithmetic. Athens biggest strength was mobility

SPARTA :- Sparta was a prominent city state in ancient Greece. Sparta was unique in ancient Greece for its social system and constitution introduced by the almost mythical figure Lycurgus. It was a a warrior society in ancient Greece.

The first historian in the world was THUCYDIDES.

PERSIANS :- Persians had a lot of money . The Persians were defeated twice :- once at Marathon and the second time at Salamist and Plataya. Persia was a monarchy . Persian religion was greatly monotheistic. The Persians avoided sacrifice and there was freedom of religion in their empire .

Macedon :- it is a kingdom in Greece . Philip of macedon invented the Sarissa ( a big sphere ). The Philip of macedon was murdered by a Persian influencer .

Afghanistan was known as the graveyard of empires . It was also known as BACTRIA .
