Objects As History – [week 12] [26/03/2020] Vedant Sharma

We started off today’s class by clarifying a few doubts related to our final project. We were supposed to write the essay in third person. We were divided in groups of 3 and we were instructed to combine our essays in the form of a booklet, each person was supposed to do 2 objects each.


Later we started discussing about the Mughal Empire.
  1. 500 AD the Roman Empire started to collapse
  2. In 500 AD the Arabian Peninsula begun
  3. The first Arabian kingdom established now
  4. The Mughals and Mongol’s [ Babur, Humayun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb and Bahadur Shah Zafar 2] All these kings were very strong
  5. All Mughal Emperors were Patrons of Art
  6. Akbar could speak all Languages
  7. Akbar also built a city named Fatehpur Sikri

Mughal Miniature paintings are also very famous. Indian instruments from the Mughal period :- peacock throne, the ganj -i – sawai, Mughal dresses [Ashokan edicts]

SIR THOMAS ROE – was the first Englishmen in India.

Chevauchee – means to attack the enemy but not destroy them.
